The Spectacular Spider-Man is back in
New York. That's right we're here with
Peter Parker;
The Spectacular Spider-Man issue number one. So, as the comic opens up we are going to be caught up on the basics of who
Peter Parker is and how he got his powers. Of course they're going to kind of establish the death of his parents when he was very young.
At the moment where these spider bites him and so far catching us up to what he's been doing today and as we flip the page we actually see that this is
Peter Parker once again recounting his origin to someone very familiar and he says the more or less the situation he's been in lately, his responsibility has shot up.
He's got to do way more than he's ever had to do before. And all of this is happening while him and
Johnny Storm are grabbing lunch together in the city. Unfortunately, it is time for
Johnny to go. As he swings off he's talking about how things have really changed. Yet, they've stayed the same and of course.

Grace and Beauty From Above |
In distance we see that a bunch of crooks are doing what crooks do best. They're robbing a place. Jumping down to try to save the lady that is in trouble, he tries to shoot his web button malfunctions. Although the criminals still get taken down. Turns out,
Ant-Man was involved with this.

You Have Ants |
In this situation,
Ant-Man has a little bit of a laugh on behalf of
Peter Parker considering he's been gone and the city has been just fine with all these other heroes running around protecting it. Everybody else going off with
Scott to meet somebody named
The Mason with the
New Avengers.

The Mason Protocol |
He might not be so acquainted with because while he hasn't been around he gets taken to their new facility where more or less everybody's just doing what they need to do. You know, looking around the city coming up with new gadgets doing the superhero thing.
Peter is quick to learn that everything has sort of changed at a level he didn't expect.
|
An Inch Taller |
Ant-Man is working with one of his quote-unquote arch enemies but it turns out responsibility is going to call
Peter Parker away to somewhere else. Later that night, we see
Peter coming up to a house and he has a new plan. He is going to play baddy instead of good.
Spidey to try to get the details he needs as someone opens the door.
|
Too Late for Spider-Sense |
Spider-Man takes a step back and then he gets blasted back with a giant blast of energy as someone in an
Iron Man suit appears right in front of him over with
Johnny Storm, who was expecting to see a familiar face. We see that he is greeted by someone else. He is greeted by a woman calling herself
Teresa Parker and she is the sister of
Peter Parker and that brings us to the end of the first issue.

Introducing, Teresa Parker |
So yeah,
Peter Parker; The Spectacular Spider-Man issue number one is a good comic. It's entertaining and puts
Peter Parker right back in
New York almost like he's never left. Because at least to him that's what it feels like. Up until he starts discovering that things have changed and of course the giant mystery at the end, has me super intrigued.
This comic gets a
7.5 out of
10 from me. Writer
Chip Zdarsky (
Sex Criminals,
Howard the Duck) and
Adam Kubert (
Ultimate Fantastic Four,
Ultimate X-Men) has done a quite decent job on the issue as I'm hoping this is a good start to something great. It's definitely more enjoyable than what
Dan Slott (
She-Hulk,
Silver Surfer) has been doing and I can't wait to keep up with it.
