The Clone Conspiracy #2 |
So, just when you think
Peter Parker cannot handle any twist that you thrown at him at the end of
The Clone Conspiracy #1, found out that his first love
Gwen Stacy is very well alive and she knew that he was the
Amazing Spider-Man on ‘
The Night She Died’ and as this comics starts, it’s going to be quite shocking for him but not in just the way you might imagine because the creator of the “
Clone Saga”, the
Jackal has been on a cloning spree and he’s cloned quite a lot of familiar faces.
Not only are them the villains but it’s almost anybody that have died while
Spider-Man was around. So, you can see how this could go bad. The book starts with the
Scarlet Spider running or should I say, webbing his way out of a crazy mob of
San Franciscans that is infected by the
Carrion Virus that made them all act like a pack of ravaging
Zombies and it was on an alternate universe.
Kaine was desperately asking for a
Portal jump as he was out of webs and then he suddenly wakes up from dream.

Hanging on The Last Thread |
As he was seemed relieved at getting out in one piece from the crazy crowd, he then responds to person next room that were banging on his walls to get his attention. When
Kaine responded to the call, he realized that it’s time to give that individual a certain “
Fix” and tries to contact his partner for response.

Just Another Knockoff! |
Last time we saw
Spider-Man was investigating on a case of one of
Parker Industries’ missing employee
Jerry Salteres and that leads him to the
New U Technologies. He eventually finds
Jerry but just as too soon got overwhelmed by seeing
Gwen Stacy and
Doctor Octopus at the same time and got himself captured. But
Spidey is still dubious about if either of
Gwen or
Octavious is even real but
Doc Ock assures him that he is the real deal and reveals that he knows who
Spider-Man is by referring to their meeting during “
Spider-Verse” which gave him the clue on
Spidey’s identity.
|
One Big, Happy Family |
Then the
Jackal enters the room with
Rhino,
Electro and two other
Miles Warren's clones at his side to apologize for this inconvenience that has caused to
Spidey.
Miles Warren is currently wearing the mask of
Anubis, the jackal-headed
Egyptian god of life and death just to get the message right even if it’s a bit dramatic in appearance. He shows
Peter that he has brought back the deceased wife and son of
Dr. Curt Connors, also known as
The Lizard. He then takes
Gwen,
Peter and his doppelgangers to a room for a big revelation.
|
Welcome to the Underworld! |
The Jackal has apparently resurrected the entire roster of the
Underworld that had previously died because
Spidey wasn’t able to save them. He literally brought back
Big Man,
Enforcers,
Green Goblin (Dr. Barton Hamilton),
Hitman,
Hobgoblin,
Jack O'Lantern,
Kangaroo,
Massacre,
Mirage,
Mysterio,
Prowler,
Rose,
Spider-Slayer and
Stilt-Man. And now, under
Spidey’s watch, no one will die. To convince
Peter of his good intention,
Miles even brings the newly resurrected
George Stacy,
Jean DeWolff and
Dr. Ashley Kafka but he still has his doubts.

A Gift, Not Trap |
Now if that’s not enough insanity with twists and turns then let’s talk about another factor in this mess, which is
Gwen Stacy and when he’s actually with her,
Spidey actually said that this
Gwen Stacy isn’t as he thought he was. We actually learned that this
Gwen is the alternate universe
Spider- Gwen who was kidnapped and replaced by the
Jackal’s resurrected
Gwen. And we actually find out that she has been working with the
Scarlet Spider,
Kaine Parker. They were working together to infiltrate
Jackal’s organization to prevent a partnership happening with
Parker Industries.
|
Who's She Supposed To Be? |
There’s actually reasoning for this as while travelling through the many other
Earths of
The Multiverse they realized that every time this partnership goes through, everybody becomes
Zombiefied monsters like in
Kaine’s nightmare. So, they are actually here to prevent that from happening. This one actually is a pretty cool twist that I really liked. There are ramifications if this partnership with
New U Technologies actually goes through. We’re gonna see how bad everything turns out in the end.

The Man Who Destroys The World |
There are still a lot to play out in this story in over all but I’m still very much interested in as it happens to be one of the best clone stories in the
Spider-Man chronology. Writer written by
Dan Slott (
Superior Spider-Man,
The Thing) and artist
Jim Cheung (
Avengers – The Children's Crusade,
New Avengers – Illuminati) tries to keep pace with the high note that this story began with and they seem like doing a fine job. Now like the twist with
Spider-Gwen and everything, they are definitely taking their time to focus on the story '
The Clone Conspiracy' as a whole while also touching up on
Peter Parker and how this all is going to affect him down the road. Obviously
Peter Parker is all about relationships and how he ties into the entire
Marvel Universe and I believe all of that will be explored even more in the next issue.
